The Broyhill Crest Barracudas have competed as members of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) since 1971. The Barracudas average 100 competitive members and 20 Bubbles developmental swimmers. In 2017, the Barracudas won their first Division Title in 23 years. In 2024, the Barracudas won their first Relay Carnival since 1994!

The Barracuda Bubbles program is designed to provide young swimmers (ages 4-6) with basic swimming skills essential for continued involvement in the sport of competitive swimming. The program’s purpose is not to provide technical swim lessons; rather, it is designed to help younger children become comfortable in the water, learn some basic water skills, and have fun!
The qualifications to be a Bubble are that you are comfortable leaving your parent, can listen to instructions and can perform well in a group setting. Bubble groups are kept small with one Bubbles Coach per group. They will be grouped according to ability.
Bubbles are required to have a parent or guardian on the pool deck during the entire practice. Bubbles coaches are high school students who are members of the swim team.
Bubbles are invited to compete in a kickboard race at Saturday morning home meets and at the Woodley Mini-Meet. This is optional and a fun way to practice racing while being cheered on by the Barracudas!
Check the Barracuda website for information on registration and schedule.
