Cool Pool News — 2022 — No. 9

Hi All,
June has almost run its course
With July approaching fast
So many things are happening
Read on, before they’ve passed…

Activities and fun for all to enjoy
Red, White and Blue to see
So join us in the neighborhood backyard
Our Cool Pool is the place to be…

HAPPY HOUR – EVERY FRIDAY
All members are welcome to bring food and beverages to the pool, and hang with neighbors and friends to enjoy Happy hour from 6pm.
The only rule – Please NO GLASS containers of any kind. And no-one will every query the contents of a coffee mug…!!!

SATURDAY July 2 – Home Swim Meet
Our mighty Barracudas swim team will be hosting a swim meet from 8am-12 noon. Pool will open to members at the conclusion of the swim meet. All are welcome to come and cheer our team on, and enjoy snacks and lunch from the snack bar area.

SUNDAY July 3 – Getting ready for Independence Day…
We do hope your kids are excited about the July 4th bike parade, held annually at the pool. Help get them in the spirit, with a communal bike decorating party!
Bring their bikes, trikes, scooters or anything with wheels to the pavilion any time between 1-4pm. And bring their decorations and some to share. There will be some decorations on-hand to share, too – plus plenty of tape, scissors and string! And once completed, the bikes can be left safely in the pavilion area, ready for the parade on Monday!

MONDAY July 4 – Independence Day!
Break out your red, white and blue! Pool opens at 11am for members, and pool is open to anyone in the community from 12 noon – free to all.

Come enjoy the fun and friendships, cooling waters and traditional July 4th activities. Bike parade registration begins at 12 noon at the lower gate by the pavilion.
Parade will begin at 1pm. Lunch available for purchase in the pavilion from noon-2pm. Yes, your hamburgers will be cooked and your hotdogs will be hot – thanks to the volunteers that signed up to assist. But you may be waiting in a LONG LINE for service, as only one person has signed up to help wrap and serve food.

PLEASE VOLUNTEER – check the website at https://broyhillcrestpool.netbroyhillcrestpool.net and click on ‘Volunteer” Really people, I know you are out there.
The same faces should not be taking on all these duties every year. Give back to the community that gives you so much…
Volunteer fairies actually do not exist – They are real people who would sometimes like a break too…
Pool will close for all at 6pm – so that all members and staff can enjoy some Independence Day evening festivities!

BCCA – (Broyhill Crest Community Association) – Celebrating 70 years!
In collaboration with the BCRC, we welcome the BCCA to the pool grounds on July 4th, as we celebrate 70 years as a community!

The BCCA will have games, prizes, a face painter, bounce house and so much more at the pool from 12 noon to 4pm. Want to learn about the community? Stop by the history table! Need help with a smartphone or laptop? Stop by the technology table!

BCCA’s Annual Meeting will be held from 11.30am-12noon, and all community members are invited.
Please support the BCCA as we enter another decade – they are the glue that keeps this community together, supporting each other and keeping Broyhill Crest a place we are all proud to call ‘home’. And it takes volunteers to keep things going – that means YOU!

FLOAT NIGHT – Every Tuesday, 7pm
Every Tuesday, Float Night begins at 7pm. This is an opportunity for anyone to bring an inflatable float into the pool, and enjoy fun, laughter and the odd ‘dunking’ with others. Floats are permitted in the pool from 7-8pm. Ice cream floats are served at Kathy’s Korner from 7:30-8:15pm – still at the low price of $1 each.
However, float nights are only served if people sign up to VOLUNTEER to scoop ice cream and pour sodas – it’s that simple! Check the website as there are gaps with no volunteers.
If you don’t want to go home thirsty and disappointed, please lend a hand…(or two – it is easier to scoop ice cream that way!!!)…

SUMMERFEST – Saturday July 30
Mark your calendar and get the babysitter lined up! This is the night of our annual Summerfest, where you can enjoy an evening with friends and neighbors, open to anyone 18 and over.
There is a delicious dinner of bbq, salads and sides, plus dessert, and a bottomless beverage cup. Plus live music to enjoy or dance to! All for a very reasonable price of $25 per person.
If you live nearby, you can walk to the pool and no need to Uber! More details to come, but save the date. It really is a lovely time to mingle with friends and make new ones.
There are so many new faces at the pool these days and we’d love to get to know you better (without having to chase after the kids!!!)

SWIM TEAM STROKE CLINICS
Please be aware that our swim team practices every weekday morning before the pool opens at 11am, However, every Tuesday and Thursday from now through the end of July, the swim team will be having stroke clinics from 4-5:30pm. They will be using two lanes of the pool, but there will always be a lap lane open and available to members. The remaining half of the pool will be available
to all, for general fun and frivolity!

See you at our Neighborhood Back Yard…
